Damascus, SANA-United Nations is participating with 17 international organizations operating in Syria in the 62nd Damascus International Fair, showcasing its humanitarian and development activities in direct communication with citizens and partners.
UN’s participation this year comes after a long hiatus, the pavilion includes representatives from approximately 17 UN organizations operating in Syria, providing comprehensive information about their activities and answering visitors’ inquiries, Tamim Alian, media official at the Office of the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, told SANA.
Alian explained that the pavilion will host educational activities this week organized by UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund, pointing out to the organizers’ appreciation with the level of interaction and turnout.
For his part, Omar Abdel Jawad, the World Food Programme’s Social Protection Programme Official in Syria, said that the participation in the fair aims to engage directly with the Syrian people and local partners, highlighting the role of United Nations which plays in supporting food security, and gain a deeper understanding of the needs of beneficiary families.
The 62nd edition of the Damascus International Fair is witnessing widespread participation from local and international sides amidst a large public turnout, reflecting the fair’s role as an economic, cultural and humanitarian platform for communication and exchange of expertise.
