Damascus, June 21 (SANA) Thirteen people were injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syria over the past 24 hours, according to the Syrian Civil Defense.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel on Sunday, the Civil Defense said its teams responded to 17 traffic accidents that left 11 people injured. The injured were given first aid and transferred to hospitals for further treatment, while responders cleared accident scenes and secured the areas.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are in good technical condition and avoid distractions while driving, particularly mobile phone use.
It also reported responding to 181 fire incidents nationwide, including 18 fires in agricultural fields and crops. The remainder involved residential buildings, commercial shops, dry grass, trees, waste, and electrical wiring. All fires were extinguished and cooled, and two civilians were injured and treated on site. Material damage was also reported.
The Civil Defense stressed the importance of avoiding fires in forested and agricultural areas, not discarding cigarette butts or glass bottles along roadsides and refraining from burning dry grass near homes or roads, urging safer removal methods instead.
Two days earlier, 23 people were injured in separate traffic accidents and fires across the country, according to the Civil Defense.
