Damascus, June.16 (SANA) Syrian Education Minister Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turko met on Tuesday with the UAE Ambassador to Syria, Hamad Rashid bin Alwan al-Habsi, to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and learning, with a particular focus on digital transformation and e-learning.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, Minister Turko reviewed the current state of Syria’s education sector and the ministry’s plans to advance digital transformation and broaden e-learning initiatives.

The Minister emphasized the importance of benefiting from successful experiences and exchanging expertise to support the development of the educational environment and keep pace with technological advancements.

Turko also highlighted the significance of the Arab Reading Challenge, organized by the United Arab Emirates, noting that the number of Syrian students participating in this year’s competition had doubled compared with last year, reflecting growing interest in reading and the development of students’ cognitive and educational skills.

Ambassador al-Habsi conveyed the UAE’s readiness to share expertise and successful experiences with the Syrian side in the education sector, commending the Ministry’s plans in the areas of digital transformation and e-learning.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in education to support and further modernize the learning process and serve the common interests of the two brotherly countries.

Syria recently concluded the national finals of the tenth season of the Arab Reading Challenge, with student Bana Abdullah winning the national title and qualifying to represent Syria in the final round of the competition in the United Arab Emirates.

More than 6,000 Syrian schools and over 1.3 million students participated in this year’s edition of the competition, including approximately 800 students with disabilities.
