Israeli patrol enters Quneitra villages, releases detained civilian

Quneitra, Jan. 12 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces advanced Monday evening into the town of Bir Ajam and the village of Breiqa in the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, according to SANA correspondent in Quneitra.

The correspondent said an Israeli force consisting of two vehicles entered from the Bir Ajam access point in southern Quneitra, moved toward Breiqa, and reached the Bir al-Kabbas area before leaving the area.

In a related development, Israeli occupation forces released a civilian from the town of Ruweihina in southern Quneitra whom they had detained earlier on Monday, the correspondent reported.

Israel has continued what Syria describes as violations of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, as well as raids, arrests and land bulldozing.

Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory, asserting that all measures taken by Israel in southern Syria are null and void and have no legal effect under international law, and has called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, deter the occupation’s practices and compel a full withdrawal from southern Syria.
