Death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon rises to 222

Beirut, March 6 (SANA) – The death toll from ongoing Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon since Monday has risen to at least 222, with hundreds more injured, Lebanese health authorities said on Friday.

The Emergency Operations Center at Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said in a statement that Israeli strikes between March 2 and Friday evening had left 217 people dead and 798 wounded.

Later reports from the ministry said additional strikes killed three people in the town of Nabi Chit in the Baalbek district and wounded 17 others, while separate raids killed one person in Beirut’s Bir Hasan area and another Syrian national in the Mar Mikhael–Chiyah district, where three others were injured.

Israeli warplanes also carried out two rounds of airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday evening, destroying several buildings.

Lebanon has been under Israeli bombardment since Monday after Hezbollah fired rockets toward Israeli positions, prompting Israel to launch daily airstrikes targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs and areas in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley.
