Ankara, March 6 (SANA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan warned on Friday that the ongoing conflict in the region could pose serious risks to global security, urging all parties to avoid steps that could further destabilize the situation.
According to a statement from the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan made the remarks during a phone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, calling on the international community to work together to create conditions for diplomatic solutions in the region.
Erdoğan also said the conflicts unfolding in the region and globally highlight the need to strengthen cooperation among NATO member states, particularly in the field of defense industries.
For her part, Meloni expressed Italy’s solidarity with Turkey after a ballistic projectile launched from Iran was detected heading toward Turkish airspace and subsequently neutralized.
Earlier this week, a NATO air defense system deployed in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted a missile launched from Iran toward Turkish airspace.
