EU affirms support for Syria to build its prosperous future

Brussels, SANA- The European Union(EU) affirmed on Monday its support for Syria and its contribution to reconstruction efforts and economic recovery, noting that it will continue to help Syrian people build a free and prosperous future.

The EU said in a statement published on its official website that the ninth Brussels Conference, held today under the title “Standing with Syria: Meeting the Needs for a Successful Transition,” aims to mobilize international support for a comprehensive and peaceful transition process, collect pledges for humanitarian and non-humanitarian assistance, and ensure sustainable support for Syrians inside Syria and for host communities across the region, particularly Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, and Iraq.

The statement added that “The fall of the Assad regime represented a historic moment and an opportunity for the Syrian people to determine the future of their country.”

“In this critical period, the European Union stands with the Syrian people, both inside Syria and across the region, and will continue to support an inclusive, Syrian-led transition process, help address humanitarian needs, and contribute to economic recovery, reconstruction, and stabilization efforts to build a free, peaceful, and prosperous Syria.”the statement said.
