Damascus, Dec. 10 (SANA) The Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Japan and Special Coordinator for Syria, Akihiro Tsuji, and the UNHCR Representative in Syria, Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, on Wednesday signed official memoranda for a Japanese grant to support UNHCR’s activities in Syria.

The US$5.37 million grant will fund UNHCR programs aimed at strengthening humanitarian services for refugees and internally displaced persons and improving response capacities in key areas.

The agreement is part of ongoing cooperation between Japan and the United Nations to bolster humanitarian efforts in Syria and ease the burden on the most vulnerable communities.
