Damascus, March 6 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa received a telephone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments.

During the call, held on Friday, President al-Sharaa presented Syria’s perspective on the ongoing situation, stressing that the defensive measures taken along the Syrian-Lebanese border aim solely at protecting the frontier and preventing attempts to smuggle weapons or destabilize the region. He emphasized the importance of supporting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both sides underlined the need to contain the escalation in the region and prevent it from sliding into further tension, highlighting the importance of maintaining regional security and stability.

They also reaffirmed their condemnation of the unjustified Iranian attacks that targeted several countries in the region, stressing the necessity of respecting state sovereignty and safeguarding their security and stability.

The two leaders agreed to continue consultations and coordination on regional issues of mutual concern in light of current developments.

In recent days, President al-Sharaa held a series of telephone calls with several Arab leaders, reiterating Syria’s firm position rejecting any violation of Arab states’ sovereignty or attempts to undermine their security and stability.
