Interior Ministry arrests perpetrators of Imam Ali Mosque bombing in Homs

Damascus, Jan. 12 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced Monday that its security forces, in collaboration with the General Intelligence Directorate, arrested two individuals linked to the terrorist group ISIS. The men are responsible for carrying out the bombing at the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dahab neighborhood of Homs on December 26.

The arrests followed an extensive intelligence operation, which included surveillance and tracking, leading to the identification and capture of Ahmad Attallah al-Diab and Anas al-Zarad, the Ministry said in a statement. The statement added that security forces recovered explosives, weapons, ammunition, documents and digital evidences confirm their links to terrorist activities.

The bombing targeted the mosque in Homs, killing eight civilians and injuring 18 others, several of whom sustained severe wounds.

The statement confirmed that the materials were confiscated and the two men have been transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The Ministry emphasized its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s security and stability and vowed to relentlessly pursue terrorist groups, swiftly addressing any threats to citizens’ safety.
