Al-Hasakah, Feb. 8 (SANA) A delegation from Syria’s Ministry of Interior, led by al-Hasakah Internal Security Commander Marwan al-Ali and Airports and Border Crossings Security Director Ahmad al-Ahmad, held talks with the SDF on Sunday to complete the transfer of management of Qamishli Airport in al-Hasakah province, in line with the agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF.
The meeting comes as part of practical steps outlined in the accord to reinforce state sovereignty and regulate operations at vital facilities in the province, ensuring that services run under officially approved frameworks and in the public interest.
The Syrian government announced on Jan. 30 that it had reached a ceasefire agreement with the SDF, which includes the deployment of Interior Ministry security forces in the centers of al-Hasakah and Qamishli to bolster stability and initiate the phased integration of security forces in the region.
Last week, Interior Ministry spokesman Nour Eddin al-Baba said a timetable had been set to implement all provisions of the deal, including the handover of strategic facilities such as border crossings, Qamishli Airport, and oil fields so they can resume operations in service of the Syrian people.
