Tartous, Dec. 23 (SANA) A new art exhibition titled “Artists of Tartous” opened Monday at the Union of Plastic Artists in Tartous on Syria’s coast, marking Syria’s Liberation Day. The show features 48 works, including paintings and sculptures in various sizes.
The exhibition showcases a wide range of artistic styles, from expressionism and abstraction to realism, classicism, symbolism, and impressionism. Themes include Syria’s heritage, natural and coastal landscapes, and celebrations of liberation.
Suleiman Ahmad, head of the Tartous branch of the Union of Plastic Artists, told SANA that the exhibition attracted strong interest from artists. He said it provided a platform for them to showcase their personal styles, techniques, and artistic visions, adding that artists play a key role in highlighting Syria’s cultural and civilizational identity.
Visual artist Julia Saeed contributed a realistic-symbolic painting celebrating freedom, blending Syrian heritage with depictions of rural women. Her work emphasizes the role of these women, portraying them as carriers of revolutionary and freedom values in their daily lives.
Artist Nayef Khuder presented a painting of a female figure representing Syria, with the Syrian flag in the background. The work includes a white dove as a symbol of peace and security, painted in acrylic on canvas.
Amal Suleiman presented a large-scale painting titled “Future Syria,” bringing together landmarks from across the country.
The exhibition will remain open for ten days, offering visitors a chance to experience the creativity and diversity of Tartous’ artists. Through their works, the show highlights both Syria’s rich cultural heritage and the optimism of a nation looking toward the future
