Damascus, SANA – A Russian delegation visited on Saturday Damascus University to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the field of qualifying and training of Syrian students learning the Russian language.
The delegation was briefed on the preparations going on to open an office of Russian Peace Foundation in Damascus.
During a meeting with a number of Russian Language Department students and teachers, the Executive Director at Synergy University Dr. Vadim Lyubov expressed desire for cooperation to prepare an intensive training course in Moscow for the top students at the Department and hold a tourism and cultural program to further boost their interest and love for the language.
Lyubov proposed holding an online training course and dispatching a Russian language professor to prepare an educational program and curriculum in Damascus, calling for deepening cooperation between Synergy and Damascus universities.
For his part, representative of Russian Peace Foundation said the Foundation will open its next office at Damascus University as it already has 106 centers spread all over the world, noting that Damascus center provide the students who are studying the Russian language the opportunity to further interact with the language.
In turn, Rector of Damascus University Mohammad Hassan al-Kurdi said that the Russian delegation’s visit has been helpful in terms of supporting the Russian Language Department, referring also to the delegation’s honoring of the top ten students.
He noted that the practical training in Moscow will cover five students from each academic year.
