Damascus, SANA- Damascus University and the Russian Kuban State University signed on Monday MoU to enhance and develop scientific, academic and research cooperation and encourage joint student and academic exchange on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
The memo was signed at Damascus University Presidency building by Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Mohammad Osama al-Jabban, and Dr. Mikhail Astapov, Rector of Russian Kuban State University.
The memo stipulated that the two sides will cooperate in exchanging faculty members, researchers, and students for the purposes of teaching, research, and academic courses.
It also stipulates on developing programs and organizing joint research and educational programs, in addition to holding seminars, research projects, conferences, and other joint scientific events.
“The memo opens new prospects for cooperation with Kuban State University, especially since the latter includes in its teaching staff and among the ranks of its students a number of Syrian academics and students” the Rector of Damascus University said in a statement.
Al-Jabban noted that the memo is an opportunity to increase and enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries and peoples.
In turn, Astapov stated that the two universities are ancient institutions and have a lot foundation for joint and strategic cooperation.
Astapov pointed out that there is an effort to open a center for teaching the Russian language at the University of Damascus and to provide educational assistance to the faculties there.
