New York,SANA-The United Nations renewed its demand that the Israeli occupation entity comply with the resolutions related to the occupied Syrian Golan, especially Resolution No. 497 of 1981, which affirms that the imposition of Israel’s laws, jurisdiction and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void.
This came during the adoption by the Special Political and Decolonization Committee of the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly of the resolution entitled the occupied Syrian Golan, which received the support of an overwhelming majority represented by the vote of 152 countries in favor of the resolution, while 5 delegations voted against the resolution, including the United States and the Israeli entity.
The resolution called on Israel to immediately cancel its decision to annex the Golan Heights and to stop imposing Israeli citizenship and identity on the people of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and to stop the repressive measures against them.
The resolution also condemned Israel’s violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention, once again requesting UN member states not to recognize any of the measures taken by Israel in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights that violate international law.
Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak, thanked the countries that supported the draft resolution, noting that it is a clear message to the Israeli occupation entity that it must end its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights.
