Haidar meets director of UNRWA in Syria, addresses situation in Yarmouk Camp

Damascus, SANA – State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar on Monday met director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Syria Michael Kingsley-Nyinah.

In a statement to journalists following the meeting, Haidar said that preparations are underway for the return of the people of al-Husseiniye town in Damascus Countryside to their homes, with infrastructure in the town being repaired in order to restore normal life to it.

He also asserted that the State Ministry is working to deal with all issues within its jurisdiction according to available resources.

Regarding the situation in Yarmouk Camp, Haidar held the terrorist organizations responsible in the camp responsible for sabotaging reconciliation efforts there and for the recurring attacks that disrupt the distribution of humanitarian aid to locals.

In turn, Kingsley-Nyinah stressed that the Syrian government spared no effort in helping Palestinian refugees, saying that UNRWA is committed to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Yarmouk Camp.
