Mikdad, Haidar affirm Syria’s commitment to the Palestinian cause

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad asserted that the Palestinian cause will remain the central cause of the Arab nation, and that the Syrian people share a mutual fate and cause with the Palestinian people.

Meeting director of the political bureau at the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Ambassador Anwar Abdul-Hadi on Tuesday, Mikdad said that the Palestinian cause is the cause of the Syrian people, and that Syria stands alongside Palestine, asserting that this is a strategic position.

He saluted the Palestinians for their wise position in confronting and foiling the Israeli aggression, asserting that “the war wasn’t waged on a single Palestinian faction; it was waged on the entire Palestinian people… it was the people who emerged victorious, and not a faction that attempts to appropriate the victory as if they’re the only one resisting.”

In turn, Abdul-Hadi reviewed the details of the Israeli aggression on Palestinian territories and the latest developments related to the recent truce, in addition to reviewing the efforts exerted by the Palestinian leadership and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to ensure the success of the truce.

He also thanked the Syrian government for continuing to facilitate the sending of food and medicine to the Palestinian people besieged by terrorists in Yarmouk Camp.

State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar also met Abdul-Hadi and discussed with him the state of Palestinian camps and the aid provided by the Syrian government to the people in them, particularly in Yarmouk Camp.

The two sides touched on the obstructive role played by armed terrorist groups who hinder the delivery of basic necessities to the people of Yarmouk Camp, in addition to their derailing of the reconciliation project there.

Haidar stressed that Syria is facing a universal conspiracy as a result for its support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, while Abdul-Hadi said that Syria’s emerging from the crisis will constitute a victory for the Palestinian people.
