Damascus, Dec. 11 (SANA) The Saudi Embassy in Syria held a reception on Wednesday evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus to mark International Human Rights Day. The event brought together diplomats, Syrian officials, as well as prominent social and religious figures.
Saudi Ambassador to Damascus, Faisal bin Saud Al-Mujfel, told journalists, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that supports the human rights cause.” He added, “This reception coincides with Syria’s Liberation Day, and we extend our blessings to the Syrian people and leadership.”
Speaking to SANA, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, emphasized that the event underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to human rights, an effort also reflected by Bahrain.
Mohammad Ba’kar, Chargé d’Affaires at the Yemeni Embassy in Damascus, stated that the ceremony demonstrates the international community’s commitment to supporting human rights. He expressed optimism that the next phase would bring more positive developments for Syria and the entire region.
For his part, Archbishop Andrawos Bahhi Patriarchal Vicar for the Youth and Christian Education, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is following a significant path that reflects its Vision 2030, bringing with it new approaches to thinking and action.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948, and recently, Syria marked its first celebration of International Human Rights Day in its history.
