Occupied Jerusalem, April 20 (SANA) The Israeli occupation army acknowledged on Sunday that one of its soldiers smashed a statue of Jesus Christ in the town of Deir Siryan in southern Lebanon.
The statement came after Haaretz newspaper reported that an Israeli soldier had destroyed the statue in the town.
According to newspaper, the incident was documented in a video showing the soldier breaking the statue inside the town, without providing details on the circumstances or exact timing of the incident.
Since March 2, Israel has launched an offensive on Lebanon that has killed 2,294 people and wounded 7,544 others, with more than one million displaced, according to the latest official figures.
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon following phone talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
