Mikdad: Syria is subjected to terrorist war due to its positions regarding Arab issues

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad on Saturday met the delegations participating in the Arab-African Youth Council meeting which is held in Damascus on Saturday and Sunday.

Mikdad briefed the delegations on the developments on the ground and in the political arena in Syria, and the effect of the victory achieved by the Syrian Arab Army in Aleppo on the course of the terrorist war which Syria is being subjected to due to its firm positions regarding Arab issues, primarily the Palestinian cause.

He stressed the importance of having a unified Arab and African position to face colonialist threats to the futures of Arab and African nations, underlining the considerable care given by Syrian diplomacy to relations with African states.

Mikdad lauded the role of Arab and African youths due to their awareness and knowledge which are essential for fighting terrorism and the Takfiri mentality.

He also briefed the delegations on the various stages of the political process up to the recent meeting in Astana.

For his part, head of the delegations Awadallah al-Hussein said that the delegations’ members believe that Syria’s battle is just and that there’s need to rally Arab and African support for Syria in its battle against terrorism and extremism.

Al-Hussein and the delegation members voiced solidarity with the Syrian people who are fighting terrorism on behalf of the people of the world, affirming their support for the Syrian Arab Army and the forces supporting it in their battle against terrorism.
