Ambassador Ala takes part in religious ceremony in the Vatican

The Vatican, SANA-Delegated by President Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s ambassador to the Vatican Husam Eddin Ala took part in an official ceremony at the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican to inaugurate a number of cardinals.

During the ceremony, Papal ambassador in Syria Archbishop Mario Zenari was elevated to the cardinalate.

Ambassador Ala conveyed to Pope Francis President al-Assad’s greetings and appreciation for his heartfelt concern for Syria and his recent decision to make the papal ambassador in Syria a Cardinal.

For his part, Pope Francis said he wanted this gesture to be a sign of solidarity with and support for the Syrian people, hoping that peace will prevail all over Syria again.
