Moscow, SANA – Syrian Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Friday discussed coordinating efforts to confront threats of chemical terrorism and cooperation between Syria and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the work of the joint mechanism of the OPCW and the UN for investigating incidents of chemical weapons use, particularly in light of the recent reports of this mechanism.
For his part, Mikdad asserted that terrorists, under the support of their operators in Western countries and some regional states who provided those terrorists with chemical weapons, were the ones who used chemical weapons in Syria and used that to launch a propaganda campaign against Syria, affirming that Syria never has and never will use any chemical weapons.
Mikdad also lauded Russia’s role in confronting misleading campaigns waged by Western states and their pawns in the region against Syria in an attempt to distort its image in the eye of the world public opinion.
