Homs, SANA – Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi discussed on Tuesday with Director of Programs at the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) Mark Ohanian and the accompanying delegation means to enhance cooperation in implementing development, social, and cultural programs that meet the needs of locals, as well as discussing mechanisms for offering material and moral support to affected people.
Al-Barazi pointed out to the efforts exerted by the Syrian government in cooperation with international organizations and civil associations which aim at improving services and the living conditions of citizens, expressing the Governorate’s readiness to cooperate with organizations and associations that would provide services to citizens.
In turn, Ohanian said that the IOCC seeks to support and finance future services projects in Homs, mainly the repairing of displaced persons’ houses and the implementation of psychological support programs.
For his part, Jalal Sabbagh, the head of Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development in Homs area, said that the IOCC is the main funder of most of the projects implemented by the Department in Homs, such as rehabilitating about 300 residential apartments and al-Ghassania schools in Old Homs, the temporary housing center in al-Ftaya village, and the implementation of medical program that targeted during more than 1600 patients, in addition to contributing to conduct surgeries for people who were injured by terrorist attacks on the al-Zahra neighborhood, along with the implementation of the psychological support program for the affected families due to the terrorist bombings.
