Damascus, SANA – Minister of State for Environment Affairs Nazira Sarkis discussed on Sunday with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria Marianne Gasser and Head of Damascus Office of the Network of Syrian Scientists, Technologists and Innovators Abroad (NOSSTIA) Sulafa Akili means of cooperation to carry out environment projects.
The Minister focused mainly on the need to enhance cooperation in the field of tackling pollution caused by the terrorist organizations’ sabotage acts, stressing on the importance of activating popular participation in preserving the environment in the cities and towns.
In turn, Gasser pointed out that the suggestions presented by the Ministry will be discussed by the ICRC technicians and experts in order to come up with a vision for future cooperation between both sides.
For his part, Director General of the Scientific Studies and Research Center, member of the NOSSTIA Board of Trustees Omar Armanazi said NOSSTIA has its attention directed towards issues of environment and renewable energies and is working on activating the Syrian expatriates’ contribution in these fields.
Head of NOSSTIA Damascus Office Mrs. Akili said the network is ready to develop a work strategy and provide consulting services in cooperation with the Environment Ministry and ICRC in an effort to clean up and preserve the environment and set up and implement executive projects in accordance with the capabilities available.
