Cabinet discusses improving services in rural areas

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of services and economic issues, mainly improving services in rural areas, improving the performance in hospitals in certain provinces, and stabilizing the SYP exchange rate.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi called for addressing a number of local issues such as public transportation in Hama city and drinking water in al-Salamiya city, in addition to stressing the need for improving the process of distributing heating fuel and providing the needs of the poultry sector.

He also called for following up on employment projects loans and resolving the issue of stalled loans, asserting that the administrative staff changes carried out by the government seek to improve the performances of public sector establishments, adding that anyone who is proven to be involved in corruption issues will be tried, as merely discharging corrupt individuals isn’t enough; rather the government will work to recover funds that belong to the public.

The Cabinet finalized the steps to issue a bill on exempting citizens who signed up for houses at the General Establishment for Housing and who have overdue fees from fines, in addition to reviewing a memo on child protection in Syria and approving a memo from the Finance Ministry on revising some of its past decisions and a memo from the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry on importing 150,000 tons of soft wheat.
