Baghdad, SANA – Iraqi President Fuad Masum affirmed on Tuesday the importance of Syrian-Iraqi cooperation in combating terrorism.
Full cooperation between Iraq and Syria is necessary for eliminating terrorism and the criminals of al-Qaeda and ISIS, said Masum during a meeting with Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, who is chairing a delegation to the 11th session of the conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) held in Baghdad.
He expressed his confidence that Syria and Iraq will achieve victory over the terrorists.
The need for cooperation and coordination between the two countries to combat terrorism, which is backed by some regional and western countries, was echoed by Speaker al-Laham, who highlighted the negative role played by some regimes such as those of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar as they continue interfering in the internal affairs of Syria and Iraq.
