Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous inaugurated on Thursday the Ghabagheb power transformer plant with a capacity of 30 MVA and a cost of more than 30 billion SYP in Daraa countryside.
The plant feeds the surrounding industrial and educational facilities, as well as a number of residential areas such as Mothbin, Ghabagheb, al-Zawitina and Mankat al-Hatab, which contributes to reducing the loads on al-Sanamayn transformer plant of 66/20 KV, and contributes to the stability of electrical network in Daraa province.
“Ghabagheb plant is one of the most important stations in Daraa province, as it is at the end of the province’s administrative borders, and thus the electricity that was reaching those areas was weak, and the pressure on it was great”, the Prime Minister said in a statement to the reporters.
Arnous noted that the benefit of this plant, which was scheduled to be established in 2010, is great in the fields of industry, agriculture, and educational facilities in the region.
The actual costs of this plant are more than 50 billion SYP, but the cadres and technicians of the Ministry of Electricity were able to complete the installation and equipment process with their own capabilities, and reduce the costs of this plant to become 30 billion SYP, Arnous added.
In turn, Minister of Electricity Eng. Ghassan al-Zamel pointed out that the plant is located in an important educational and industrial area in Daraa province, and its aim is to modernize the electrical system and reduce the heavy loads on al-Sanamayn transformation plant.
