Al-Moallem: Syria appreciates Iran’s ideas regarding counter-terrorism & political solution

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Wednesday received Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi and the accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed developments in Syria and the region and the importance of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism.

Al-Moallem touched on the reasons behind the frenzied campaign waged by the states conspiring against Syria after said states witnessed the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army in cooperation with Russia and the Lebanese resistance and with the support of Iran.

He asserted that the situation is improving, and that Syria will certainly emerge victorious as long as it has true friends supporting its defense of its people, sovereignty, and unity.

The Minister also affirmed that the ideas posed by Iran regarding counter-terrorism and the political solutions for the crisis in Syria are appreciated and heeded by the Syrian government.

For his part, Boroujerdi said that Iran is noticing a marked and constant improvement in the situation in Syria due to the steadfastness of its people and leadership.

He stressed that Iran will continue to support Syria in all fields, and that it welcomes the four-way cooperation in fighting terrorism between Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Russia, adding that this cooperation is a positive and successful step and that its positive effects are beginning to materialize.

Boroujerdi said that the states which declare intention to fight terrorism must support the four-way cooperation, because the alliance led by the United States failed to achieve anything against terrorism on the ground; rather it lead to the spread of the influence of ISIS and other terrorist organizations.
