Tehran, SANA – Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati reiterated his country’s continued support for the people and state of Syria under President Bashar al-Assad’s leadership in their war against terrorism until security and stability are restored to the country.
During a meeting with Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Adnan Mahmoud, Velayati asserted that the cooperation and coordination among Iran, Russia, Syria and Iraq are important for fighting and eliminating terrorism.
He highlighted the recent advances made by the Syrian army in many areas, saying the army’s gains will change the equation completely in favor of the Syrian people and the peoples of the region and the whole world.
“It is not allowed for any one from the outside to talk on behalf of the Syrian people or to impose dictations on them,” Velayati stressed, adding that “any initiative to solve the crisis in Syria has to be coordinated with the Syrian government and based on fighting terrorism and respecting the Syrian people’s will and independent decision.”
Ambassador Mahmoud reviewed during the meeting the current Syrian developments on the political, economic and battlefield levels, asserting that all the facts show that terrorism in Syria will inevitably be defeated thanks to the Syrian people’s will and the Syrian-Russian-Iranian-Iraqi coordination.
