Aleppo governor and ICRC discuss expanding relief and humanitarian work

Aleppo, SANA- Governor of Aleppo Dr. Mohammad Marwan Olabi discussed on Monday with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria Marianne Gasser relief and humanitarian work and fields of cooperation and coordination to help families who were affected by the current crisis.

Olabi hailed the efforts made by the government and the parties concerned to provide aid to the affected families to ease their suffering.

Olabi also hailed the role of international humanitarian organizations in relief work, affirming full readiness to provide all facilitations and assistance to them to be able to carry out their humanitarian work.

For her part, Gasser said that ICRC has always sought to ensure that the aid reaches those in need and expand the fields of humanitarian work in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, praising the support provided by Aleppo governorate for the success of the Commission’s work.

Gasser explained that the charity kitchens in Aleppo are provided with the basic materials required to provide free meals to the needy persons, noting that the committee is working to carry out rehabilitation and maintenance works for these kitchens to be in complete readiness.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed rehabilitation and maintenance works in makeshift centers in order to improve the living conditions for the families staying there.
