Interior, Social Affairs ministers discuss with Fatah delegation Palestinians’ situation in Syria

Damascus, SANA – Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar and Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Kinda al-Shammat discussed, in two separate meetings, the situation of the Palestinians in and outside the camps with a delegation of the Palestinian Fatah Movement.

Minister al-Shaar said the government has taken a set of measures aimed at protecting the Palestinians in Syria, adding that the government is keen on the return of al-Yarmouk camp locals posthaste.

He stressed that the Palestinian cause has always been uppermost in Syria’s priorities as Syria supports the right of the Palestinians to return to their lands and have an independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

For her part, Dr. al-Shaamat said in a press statement following the meeting that Syria and the Palestinian organizations are cooperating for delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians who are in al-Yarmouk or who have been displaced.

 

In turn, member of the central committee of the Palestinian Fatah Movement Abbas Zaki stressed that Syria’s victory is a victory for the Palestinians as Syria is at the vanguard of the countries resisting the U.S. – Zionist scheme in the region, hoping that the Syrian people, army and leadership will soon prevail over the crisis.

He added that the Syrian government is playing a vital role in meeting the needs of the Palestinians and Syrians who were forced out of al-Yarmouk camp.
