Petroleum Ministry: Daily oil production around 9,500 barrels, gas production around 15.6 million cubic meters

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Suleiman al-Abbas called for boosting production by drilling new wells and the achieving optimal investment of refineries with minimal energy consumption of energy.

During a meeting for following up on the implementation of production and investment plans for the first quarter of 2015 on Sunday, Minister Abbas stressed the importance of speeding up work on the Furuqlus refinery project, putting the gas plant in north central area in service, and continuing working on the possibility of securing protection for oil transportation lines, in addition to speeding up maintenance in the Adra gas plant.

A report submitted by the General Establishment for Petroleum during the meeting said that the total of oil produced in Syria and delivered to Homs refinery during the first quarter of 2015 exceeded 853,000 barrels, at a rate of 9,486 barrels per day.

The total produced gas reached 1.4 billion cubic meters at an average daily rate of 15.6 million cubic meters.

The amount of refined oil produced by Homs and Banyas refineries was about 1.3 million metric tons, with 1.2 million metric tons of petroleum byproducts being produced and sold with a value of more than SYP 96 billion. The value of total sales for the fuel company from oil and gas products was SYP 120.479 billion.

According to the report of the General Organization of Geology and Mineral Resources, the total sales of building materials and raw materials for industrial production for the first quarter of the year were around SYP 348 million, in addition to selling a total of 408,000 tons of phosphate in local and foreign markets at a value of SYP 5.786 billion.
