Damascus/SANA – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fayssal Mikdad, stressed that the Syrian people share the Iranians sadness over the passing away of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and their companions.
The late Iranian president, Raisi, constantly emphasized his country’s keenness to support Syria in confronting the terrorist war imposed on it, and he believed in its victory thanks to the steadfastness of its people and leader, President Bashar al-Assad, said Mikdad in a phone call today with Al-Mayadeen TV.
Minister Mikdad explained that the strategic relations between the two countries were strengthened by the visit of President Assad to Tehran in 2022, as well as the late Raisi’s visit to Damascus in May of last year.
Mikdad stated that the bilateral ties has been deeply rooted since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, and will remain strong and solid, as the two countries reject the hegemony of the US and its Western allies and their interference in the internal affairs of countries, and they both agree that Palestine Cause is their main issue and that the racist Zionist entity is a common enemy.
