Sabbagh: Israeli occupation entity main threat to nuclear security in whole region

Vienna, SANA- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Bassam Sabbagh, affirmed the that the Israeli occupation entity, with its nuclear arsenal, is the main source of threat to nuclear security in the region, particularly due to refusing to join the relevant international agreements and treaties, and the several flagrant violations of the principles of international law and UN Charter.

In a speech on Tuesday before the International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Security held in Vienna, Sabbagh said “the occupying entity exploits protection provided by Western countries regarding its possession of nuclear capabilities in contrast to Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and comprehensive safeguards system.

Sabbagh underlined Syria’s keenness on implementing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, asserting the country’s aspiration to continue cooperation with “IAEA” to benefit from the provided technical support in peaceful using field of nuclear energy.
