Damascus Countryside, SANA – 56 gunmen from Damascus Countryside turned themselves in to the authorities so that they could have their legal status settled and be released, a source in the province told SANA on Saturday.
On February 21, some 158 wanted persons from Damascus, Damascus Countryside, Aleppo, Hama, Idleb, and Lattakia and 111 others from Homs alone turned themselves in to the authorities.
The number of those who turned themselves in and handed over their weapons to authorities since the start of the terrorism-triggered crisis in the country in 2011 has amounted to hundreds of thousands. Most of those were released after they pledged not to get involved in any acts that may affect the security of the homeland and citizens in the future.
