Tourism Minister calls for investing in tourist prospects of Syria’s countryside

Damascus, SANA – Tourism Minister Bishr Yazigi discussed with members of the council of the Architectural Engineering Faculty at Damascus University prospects of cooperation as per the memo of understanding signed by the Ministry and the University.

Yazigi underlined the Ministry’s plans for urban development in the tourist sector as part of the reconstruction stage, referring to the role the Architectural Engineering Faculty could play in this regard by contributing to studies and planning.

The Minister stressed the need to invest in the tourist prospects available in Syria’s countryside, in addition to studying the tourist investment of old cities, archeological and historical sites, and religious sites and structures.

He also proposed making use of the expertise of the Faculty’s students in improving the visual aspect of Damascus city center, in addition to discussing proposed sites for establishing a wax museum.

For their part, the council members proposed ideas on how the Faculty can contribute to the tourist sector which sustained considerable damage due to the war waged on Syria.
