Tehran, SANA- Iran has reiterated the need to resolve the crisis in Syria politically based on respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing at the same time that all foreign forces illegally deployed on Syrian territory should leave.
During a session of the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, Majid Takht Ravanchi, called for not politicizing the issue of humanitarian aid and for canceling the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, in addition to supporting the efforts to rebuild what had been destroyed by terrorism.
The Iranian diplomat condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian lands, which constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and of regional and international peace and security.
He stressed Syria’s right to defend itself, calling on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in exerting pressure on the occupation entity to stop its acts of aggression and end its occupation of the Syrian Golan.
With regard to the meetings of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution in Geneva, the representative of Iran referred to the necessity of not interfering in the work of the committee, adding that setting any artificial timetables for the end of the committee’s activities or any other conditions of this kind would negatively affect the work of the committee.
