Karim Allaf qualifies for semi-finals of Abu Dhabi World Tennis Championship

Abu Dhabi, SANA – In his first international participation this year, Syria’s tennis champion Karim Allaf has qualified for the semi-finals of the doubles competitions in the 14th Abu Dhabi World Tennis Championship.

Allaf, along with a Zimbabwean partner, qualified after beating Wednesday a Cypriot doubles team 3-6 , 5-7 in the quarter-finals.

The Syrian-Zimbabwean team will play today Thursday a French doubles team, with Allaf, who is member of the Syrian national tennis team, will also meet an Indian player in the singles competitions of the quarter-finals.

Allaf has recently improved his standing in the rankings of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for under-18 players by 79 places to be classified the 195th internationally.

The new classification followed Allaf’s remarkable achievements in the international championships held in 2014 as he was ranked first in the singles competitions of Dubai ITF Junior Championship and second in the singles competitions of the tennis championships held in Bahrain and Kuwait.

In the doubles competitions, Allaf was crowned champion with his Egyptian colleague Sharif Makhlouf in Bahrain ITF Juniors Championships and he came second in the doubles competitions in the championships of Jordan and Kuwait.
