Rainfalls accompanied by thunder in southern region, heaviest in Daraa, Damascus

Damascus, SANA- The southern region has witnessed rainfalls accompanied by thunder over the past 24 hours, the heavies of which have been registered in Dara and Damascus.

The registered amounts of rainfalls were as follows: Damascus 23 mm, Damascus Countryside 19 mm, and Daraa 24 mm.

The country has been witnessing a low air pressure accompanied by thunderstorms and thunderbolts which resulted in fall of hailstones and heavy rainfalls accompanied by southwestern air currents in the upper layers of the atmosphere in different areas in Damascus City and its countryside.

In a statement to SANA, weather broadcaster, Shadi Jawish said that the thunderbolts and the intensity of the thunder and lightning in some areas is a natural phenomenon in the period of transitional seasons which is affiliated to the low air pressure of the Red Sea which causes a state of instability in the weather conditions.

Jawish said that the efficiency of thunderbolts will be weaker during the next two days and the country will witness scattered rainfalls in different regions, while the thunderbolts will continue in the southern and southeastern areas, noting that the country will witness an effective low air pressure next week.
