Foreign Ministry: Crimes of US-led coalition complete cycle of aggression on Syria

Damascus, SANA_ Syria has confirmed that the continuous attacks by the US-led “international coalition” come to complete the cycle of aggression and to converge in its objectives and goals with the repeated Israeli aggressions, the last of which was on Thursday evening on al-Keswa area, south of Damascus.

In a letter addressed on Friday to both UN Secretary-General and the UN Security Council on US and Israeli attacks on the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that warplanes of the illegal US-led coalition continued its brutal crimes against innocent civilians.

On Friday, November 30, 2018, the coalition committed a new massacre in al-Shaafeh village in Deir Ezzor countryside, claiming the lives of more than 30 civilians, mostly children and women, the ministry said, adding that the death toll is expected to rise as some people remain trapped under the debris of  the buildings which collapsed as a result of the shelling.

The ministry said that the continuation of these crimes is a clear translation for the United States’ disregard for the values of humanity and disdain for the international law.

It added that this comes at a time when some countries remain silent regarding these massacres which pose war crimes and crimes against humanity, turn a blind eye to the killing of thousands of civilians, the destruction of entire villages and the displacement of their people and continue submission to the hostile intentions of the United States through their participation in the coalition which allegedly was formed to combat terrorism while in fact it targets only civilians, women, children and the elderly.

The ministry stressed that silence of the countries and international organizations, which claim concern for the lives of civilians, on the United States’ crimes and its counterfeit coalition revealed the extent of their hypocrisy and the double standards, which became open policies known to all peoples of the world.

The ministry emphasized that these repeated attacks come to complete the cycle of aggression against the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and to converge in its goals and objectives with the repeated Israeli aggressions, the latest of which was on al-Keswa area, south of Damascus, on Thursday, November 29, 2018 as another proof of Israel’s support for armed terrorist groups and its attempt to prolong the crisis in Syria.

The ministry concluded by saying that Syria condemns these crimes and repeated  aggressions and demands the UN Security Council and the UN member states to shoulder their responsibilities through a serious and an immediate action to put an end to them, condemn them, stop the repeated violations of international law and to fulfill their duty to maintain international peace and security.
