Moscow, SANA – Syria and Russia have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of energy and mineral resources.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak in Moscow on Tuesday.
Ghanem told the journalists that cooperation with Russian companies in the oil field is longstanding, adding that the Russian companies did not leave Syria during the terrorist war on the country.
For his part, Novak said that much has been achieved over the past years to set up joint projects between the two countries in the fields of electricity power, petroleum, and gas.
Novak affirmed the Russian company’s readiness to contribute in rebuilding and rehabilitating projects destroyed by terrorism.
The agreement stipulates for cooperation between the two sides to implement projects aimed at developing and rehabilitating oil and gas fields, phosphate mines, and several infrastructure projects in all energy sectors in Syria, including a geological and geophysics information center.
