Moscow, SANA_ The Russian Ministry of Defense renewed the involvement of the United States in forming and training armed groups to carry out terrorist acts in a number of Syrian cities to thwart reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center, in a statement on Friday, said, citing displaced who had managed to flee the US-controlled al-Tanf zone, that the militants that were recently formed and trained by the US were planning a breakthrough operation in the nearest future.
The statement added that these terrorist groups are trying to infiltrate north and north-east “to carry out acts of sabotage in the governorates of Damascus, Homs and Deir Ezzor.”
According to the statement, a unit of the Syrian Arab army killed five terrorists near al-Tanf zone on January 24 and destroyed two SUVs vehicles equipped with machineguns.
“During patrolling the perimeter of the at-Tanf area on January 24, Syrian military patrol detected a convoy of three vehicles belonging to militants and equipped with guns… as a result of the fight two vehicles were destroyed and five terrorists were killed,” the statement read.
“ This fact shows the real involvement of the United States in preparing and forming an “armed opposition” under its command to undermine the political process in Syria,” the statement said.
