Cabinet discusses state of textile industry and means to develop it

Damascus, SANA-The Cabinet discussed during its weekly session on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, a number of services, economic, and development issues.

The Cabinet charged ministries and the General Secretariat at the Cabinet with preparing a comprehensive study on the state of the textile industry and the difficulties hindering its development in terms of achieving competitiveness on regional and international levels.

The Cabinet also approved a plan to enhance communication between ministries and public sector establishments on the one hand and professional associations on the other, in addition to tasking the Ministry of Transport with preparing a comprehensive vision for the rail transport system throughout the Syrian territory.

The Cabinet reviewed the results of the visit of the recent ministerial delegation to Homs province to inspect the progress and completion rates in the projects that were launched in the province in various services and development fields.

For his part, Public Works and Housing Minister Hussein Arnous briefed the Cabinet on the developmental vision for the General Establishment for Housing, the General Authority for Development and Real Estate Investment, and the Regional Planning Commission.
