Damascus, SANA – Representing President Bashar al-Assad, Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam extended congratulations to the people, government and army of Iraq on the liberation of Mosul city from ISIS terrorist organization.
During a visit to the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, Minister Azzam highlighted the importance of the achievements made by the Iraqi armed forces in the course of fighting terrorism and restoring security and stability to the Iraqi cities.
He affirmed that the terrorist war facing Iraq and Syria will not discourage the people of the two countries from continuing to remain steadfast and resist until full victory is finally achieved against all the terrorist organizations and security prevails in both countries.
In a statement to the reporters, Azzam stressed that Syria and Iraq are “one hand” due to the leaderships of the two brotherly countries and “will remain in one ditch in the face of terrorism.”
For his part, Minister Plenipotentiary and Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Iraq Riyad al-Taei expressed thanks to President al-Assad for his congratulations on the victories over ISIS terror organization, stressing that the Syrian and Iraqi peoples have always been brothers and that they share a common destiny and a common enemy, “which makes it necessary for them to stand shoulder to shoulder in the face of this enemy.”
He pointed out that after “the enemy” has been expelled from Syria’s Aleppo and Iraq’s Mosul, its defeats will continue in other areas until terrorism is totally eliminated, considering the defeat of terrorism in both cities is a sign of victory thanks to the wisdom of the Syrian and Iraqi leaderships.
