Minister al-Shaibani welcomes U.S. President's statements on lifting sanctions on Syria

Damascus, SANA-Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks regarding the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria in response to war crimes committed by the Assad regime.

In a statement to SANA, Minister al-Shaibani described this development as “a pivotal turning point for the Syrian people as we transition toward a future of stability, self-sufficiency, and genuine reconstruction after years of devastating war.”

The Foreign Minister emphasized the Syrian government’s “highly positive outlook on this announcement” and affirmed Syria’s readiness to foster a relationship with the United States based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests.

He further stated that President Trump “has the potential to achieve a historic peace agreement and a true victory for American interests in Syria. He has already done more for the Syrian people than his predecessors, who allowed war criminals to cross red lines and commit inhumane massacres.”
