Abu Dhabi, March 24 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday its air defenses intercepted five ballistic missiles and 17 drones launched from Iran.
In a statement posted on X, the Ministry of Defense said the interceptions were successful and that sounds heard were the result of the operations.
The ministry said that since the start of what it described as “blatant Iranian aggression” on its territory, air defenses have intercepted 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,806 drones.
It said the attacks have killed two armed forces personnel on duty, along with six civilians of Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi and Palestinian nationalities.
A total of 161 people were injured, including Emiratis, Arab nationals and others from Asian and African countries, the ministry said.
The ministry added it remains on full alert and ready to respond to any threats, stressing it would take firm action to protect the country’s security, sovereignty and stability.
Iran continues to launch missile and drone attacks targeting several Gulf countries, including the UAE, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure amid broader regional escalation. The attacks followed U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
