Damascus, Sept. 27 (SANA) A major international dental conference in Damascus concluded after three days of lectures and exhibitions focused on new technologies, artificial intelligence and advances in clinical practice, drawing about 3,500 dentists from Syria and several Arab countries.
The 23rd International Scientific Conference of the Dentists Syndicate, known as SIDC 2026, was held at the Damascus Fairgrounds and featured 78 specialized lectures covering developments in orthodontics, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry, dental and maxillofacial surgery, and the use of artificial intelligence.
Mohammad Bashir al-Smail, head of the Dentists Syndicate in Syria, said recommendations from the conference emphasized keeping dental practice aligned with rapidly developing scientific and technological advances.
He said the syndicate plans to compile the research, recommendations and topics presented during the conference into a scientific publication that will be distributed to participants.
The organization also plans to hold more specialized conferences and expand workshops, scientific sessions and exhibitions to accommodate growing participation from Syria and abroad, al-Smail said.
Hiba al-Helou, head of the conference’s scientific committee, said the broader event attracted more than 5,000 dentists and other visitors, including the 3,500 dentists from Syria and several Arab countries.
About 75 Syrian, Arab and international companies participated in an exhibition held alongside the conference, displaying dental equipment, materials and technologies available in Syria.
Al-Helou said the conference gave Syrian dentists an opportunity to meet specialists and lecturers from Syria and other countries, exchange expertise and learn about recent developments across dental specialties.
The conference, which opened Sept. 24, also marked the launch of the first issue of the Syrian Journal of Dentistry, a publication focused on scientific and professional research in the field.
