Washington, April 21 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday rejected remarks by Energy Secretary Chris Wright on fuel prices, saying Americans could see lower costs once tensions with Iran ease.
Wright told CNN on Sunday that gasoline prices could fall below $3 per gallon, though he suggested this may not happen until next year.
In response, Trump told The Hill that Wright was “totally wrong,” adding that prices are expected to come down “as soon as this ends,” referring to the ongoing conflict.
The remarks come against the backdrop of the U.S.–Iran conflict, which has disrupted global energy markets and driven oil prices higher. Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for roughly one-fifth of global oil supply, have led to sharp fluctuations in crude prices, directly affecting gasoline costs in the United States.
Analysts say fuel prices remain closely tied to developments in the conflict, with supply disruptions and security risks continuing to drive volatility, even as markets respond to ceasefire talks and diplomatic efforts.
