Washington, April (SANA) Three people were killed on Sunday in a U.S. strike targeting a vessel suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean Sea.
According to a report cited by Agence France Presse (AFP), the total number of fatalities from the U.S. military campaign against suspected drug-trafficking vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific has risen to 180.
In a post on the platform “X,” U.S. Southern Command said the strike was carried out based on intelligence indicating the vessel was traveling along a known drug-smuggling route, adding that three suspected traffickers were killed.
Last Thursday, the U.S. military announced a similar strike in the eastern Pacific that also left three people dead, marking the fifth such operation within a week.
The United States has recently deployed significant naval forces to the Caribbean, where multiple vessels suspected of drug trafficking have been targeted in recent months.
