Damascus, SANA – The Environment Affairs Directorate in Damascus Governorate organized a cleaning campaign in the Damascus Straight Street, starting from the Mariamite Cathedral up to the Bab Sharqi arch in the Old City.
The campaign, organized in cooperation with civil societies and organizations and vocational unions, included the distribution of posters and pamphlets to raise environmental awareness, painting walls, planting and tending to trees, planting Al-Qeshla Park, and cleaning stone facades.
This campaign is part of a larger cleaning campaign launched by the State Ministry for Environment Affairs in 2014. The main goal of such campaigns is to raise awareness among people and strengthening cooperation between the government and the civil society.
